Fellowship Presbyterian Church

A Church Plant of the Presbyterian Church in America, PCA

"...that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that your joy may be complete."  - 1 John 1:3–4

OUR PURPOSE

We exist to have fellowship with God through Christ and His Spirit, to live in fellowship with other believers through His church, and to invite others into fellowship with God and His people through the Gospel.

OUR MISSION

To share the gospel with Bedford County so that people might believe in Jesus Christ and have fellowship with God.

OUR VISION

To be a biblically healthy church that loves God, loves our neighbor and loves Christ's church, with the vision of establishing PCA churches in other communities that share the gospel with their communities.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Our DNA

We are a church plant of Mercy Presbyterian Church (PCA) and the Blue Ridge Presbytery. Fellowship Presbyterian Church is a local congregation that is part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA  was formed in 1973 as a denomination that is “Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission.”  Learn more about the PCA.

We are a reformed church that believes in the biblical truth that was reclaimed during the Protestant Reformation. We believe that Christ is head over His Church and leads the church through His Word and Spirit. We believe that salvation is only possible by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. Our doctrine is founded on what scripture teaches and is summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. Learn more about our beliefs.

We are a Presbyterian church, which means we have a representative form of church government.  Our local church is led and served by officers of the church (elders and deacons) who are elected by the local congregation. Our church is under the care of the Blue Ridge Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church of America.

We are also evangelical in the sense that we proclaim the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We desire to share the gospel with all people, so that they might trust in the saving work of Jesus Christ and enjoy eternal life in Him. Learn more about salvation through Christ.

Our Story

God gave Mercy Presbyterian Church a desire to see churches planted in Lynchburg and the surrounding area. Then, in God's mysterious timing, a conversation took place between the pastor and people from the church who lived in Bedford. This conversation was the beginning of a dream and many months and years of prayer.

Mercy Presbyterian Church received the blessing and support of the Blue Ridge Presbytery to move forward with church planting in Bedford. Mercy formed a search committee to identify a church planting pastor.

After a short search the Lord led Mercy Presbyterian Church to call Richard Brueck to be an assistant pastor at Mercy and to begin preparing to plant a church in Bedford.

The first interest meeting for the church plant took place in the backyard of a family in the Bedford area.

Mercy Presbyterian Church launched Fellowship Presbyterian Church as an official church plant under the care of Mercy Presbyterian Church and Blue Ridge Presbytery.
